The Phantom Tollbooth is a classic children’s book by Norton Juster. First published in 1961, the book tells the story of Milo, a bored young boy who suddenly finds himself transported to a fantastical world full of interesting characters and incredible adventures. The book is highly imaginative and delightfully…

2. Emma KennedyInterview

I think it was The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, closely followed by Down with Skool by Geoffrey Willians and Ronald Searle. I loved the cleverness of Tollbooth and the humour of Skool.

Then non-fiction: Diversity: The Invention of a Concept by Peter Wood, a searching…

6. Eileen CookInterview

Two books leap to mind: The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster and The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg. I’ve re-read these as an adult and loved them in a completely different way.
