When someone asks you ‘what do you do for a living?’ – How do you respond?
I’m asked that question often, and when I am – I answer by simply telling them that I motivate people.
What are you reading at the moment?
I’m currently reading a book called, Acts of Faith by Iyanla Vanzant, which was written in 1993.
When you think about your childhood, what book comes to mind?
That’s a great question. I didn’t do a lot of reading back then, but I do remember reading my Dr. Seuss Book Collection by Dr. Seuss.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I always wanted to be a preacher; or an architect. My athletic dreams were high as well.
What do you think your school aged self would think of the present day you?
My school aged self would see my present day self as a hero!
If you could wrap up a single book and gift it to yourself as you left education – which book would it be?
If I could gift my younger self a book, it would be Unleash Your Purpose by Myles Munroe.
Does your reading have routine? Is there a particular time or place that you like to read?
I love to read in the mornings. I’m most comfortable reading at a park or near water – like at the beach.
Which book has had the biggest impact on your career so far?
There’s a powerful book that I read called Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream by David Platt. I would say that is the book that has had the biggest impact on my career.
Do you have any books that you strongly associate with someone important in your life?
I associate the book called The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman with my wife, as it was very helpful while I was choosing my wife.
What book have you recommended the most to friends and family?
The book I recommend the most is The Bible.
Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction?
I would say I prefer non-fiction books.
Do you think reading is important?
I know that reading is important. It’s the best way to obtain knowledge.
What’s the best book you’ve read in the last 6 months?
There have been quite a few but the best of the last 6 months would be You Can You Will by Joel Osteen.
Do you prefer real books or digital books?
I like them both. I think it matters which is more convenient to the individual. Same words just a different tool.
Name a book that you feel every human should have to read by law.
Well as a preacher/motivator I’d have to say The Bible. Particularly the book of Proverbs.
What is the book that you feel has had the single biggest impact on your life?
My best and most honest answer would be, The Bible. The “New Living” and “Message” translations are the most inspiring.
Are there any books you haven’t mentioned that you feel would make your reading list?
I would also include the following:
Sun Stand Still by Steven Furtick, The Power of I Am by Joel Osteen, Understanding Your Potential by Myles Munroe, and Fruit Happens by Michael Christopher.
What books or subject matter do you plan on reading in the next year?
This year I will be reading more books about purpose, passion, vision and financial success.
If you were to write an autobiography – what would it be called?
That’s interesting. Considering all that I’ve been through and overcome, I would probably call my autobiography something like, From Pain to Prosperity.
