How do you describe your occupation?

While I might run a sports marketing firm, among many other positions I hold, I view my role in life and work as empowering others to empower others to be happy.

What is something about you that people might find surprising?

I think the most surprising think about me might be the fact that I played college football, as many people I meet are sceptical of this fact, at first. Additionally, what surprises many people is that I do not teach my employees or interns about working in sports. Instead, I teach them about gratitude, empathy, accountability, and effective communication, which helps them to be their best in whatever industry they work in.

What are you reading at the moment and what made you want to read it?

I’m currently working my way through A Course in Miracles by Helen Schucman, which is definitely one of my favorites. I really like reading (and re-reading) it because it encourages me to be consistent and persistent in the pursuit of my potential.

What was your favourite book as a child and why?

Monster at the End of the Book by Jon Stone was my favorite growing up, due to the ending. In the end of the book, Grover from Sesame Street realizes that the monster he was worried about the entire time was himself, and I always found that really powerful.

When did you fall in love with reading?

I fell in reading when I was 5, fell out of love with reading during college and law school, and then fell back in love with reading after beginning my career.

What was the last book you purchased, and why did you buy it?

The last book I purchased was Get Tough Retire Rich by Robert Pascuzzi, a good friend of mine. I bought the book in order to prepare for an event we hosted together in Kansas City, which raised money for as part of my “50 For 50” campaign for the Unstoppable Foundation, where I serve as chairman of the board.

What are perfect reading conditions for you?

I rarely have time during work hours to read, so most of my reading is done early in the morning as I wake up early to research and work on my books, or in the evenings, when I am relaxing with my wife and kids.

What book have you found most inspiring, what effect did it have on you?

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is the book I found most inspirational, and it motivated me to codify my own success principles. These principles became the inspiration for the books I’ve written and how I run my businesses.

What’s the most obscure book you own; how did you discover it?

I think A Course in Miracles by Helen Schucman qualifies as a pretty obscure book, and I heard about it while studying one of my favorite mentors, Dr. Wayne Dyer.

What’s the best book you’ve read in the last 6 months?

Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk, one of my buddies, is definitely one of the better books that I’ve read recently.

What is your proudest achievement?

It is so hard to choose just one achievement as my proudest moment. The first one that comes to mind is being recognized with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. The other achievement, which I think probably ranks a little higher, was being recognized by Variety Magazine and the unite4:Good Foundation as the Sports Humanitarian of the Year in 2016.

If you were trying to impress a visitor, which book that you own would you leave on the coffee table?

If an alien landed in your garden; which three books would you gift them to showcase humanity in the best possible way?

What is the book that you feel has had the single biggest impact on your life? What impact did it have?

The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer has probably had a bigger impact on me than any other book I’ve read. It taught me about the laws of attraction and intention, which I now incorporate into my life and my teachings, as a Top 100 business coach and thought leader.

Are there any books you haven’t mentioned that you feel would make your reading list?

Which book sat on your shelf are you most excited about reading next and why?

The Wizard’s Wish by Brad Yates, another of my friends, is the book I’m most looking forward to, as I am planning to read it with my son, Miles.
