When someone asks you ‘what do you do for a living?’ – How do you respond?

I help people with anxiety to be calmer and happier – using hypnotherapy and my book The Anxiety Solution.

What are you reading at the moment?

When you think about your childhood, what book comes to mind?

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

A mad scientist – I got my first lab coat and microscope at 10.

What do you think your school aged self would think of the present day you?

I think she’d wonder ‘what the hell is hypnotherapy?!’

If you could wrap up a single book and gift it to yourself as you left education – which book would it be?

Does your reading have routine? Is there a particular time or place that you like to read?

I love to read on train journeys and I listen to audio books everywhere I walk or when I’m exercising.

Which book has had the biggest impact on your career so far? How did it impact it?

The book that has had the biggest impact on my career is The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte – it helps you to set goals with soul by organising your life around how you want to feel.

Do you have any books that you strongly associate with someone important in your life?

My dad gave me his dog eared and annotated copy of Brave New World by Aldous Huxley at 15 and I read it 8 times. I thought I was so cool.

Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction?

I always read non-fiction these days as I’m obsessed with psychology and personal development.

Do you think reading is important?

I think it’s the best thing ever! How amazing is it to get someone’s life’s work for less than a tenner?!

What’s the best book you’ve read in the last 6 months?

The best book I’ve read in the last six months would be You are a Badass by Jen Sincero (discover Jen Sincero’s reading list here). She’s hilarious.

Do you prefer real books or digital books?

My preference is audio books, probably because I love to walk and listen.

Name a book that you feel everyone would benefit from reading and explain why.

I’d recommend everyone should read Feeling Good by David Burns – it’s about how to be happier!

What is the book that you feel has had the single biggest impact on your life? What impact did it have?

I’d pick Dying to be Me by Anita Moorjani; it’s a book about her near death experience and miraculous recovery from stage four cancer. It’s incredibly moving.

Are there any books you haven’t mentioned that you feel would make your reading list?

Anything by Dr Wayne Dyer. I love his way to telling stories; they really resonate.

What books or subject matter do you plan on reading in the next year?

If you were to write an autobiography – what would it be called?
